REVIEW: Caronia Nail Care Fast Dry Top Coat

Hello everyone! I've been trying to do a review since yesterday but the weather here in the Philippines is freakin' bad ruining mood for blogging. It's sooooooo HOT! Global warming, eh? Ugh! -_-

Anyway, here's quick review on my current favorite top coat from a very well known brand here, which is Caronia. Yes, it's that very affordable brand you actually see in Watsons, supermarkets and department stores. I have tried Orly's Top to Bottom but it didn't became a favorite. Few months ago, I have also tried Colorstay top coat from Revlon and it's also a favorite but it's very expensive, at least for me.

Directions, Ingredients and Caution

I have used this a couple of times already and I still have a lot left as you can see from the photo below. And mind you, it did not became tacky at all. It produce that enough shine to my nails.

After months of using this.

One thing I dislike is the very thin brush. It makes the application time consuming. I really wanted a paddle-like (shaped) brush for my nail polishes but I guess you can only find that with expensive brands.

What I like:
- Packaging is simple with ingredients and simple directions.
- After months of using this, the consistency is still good.
- Dries really fast (3 mins if you apply this on top of a wet polish and a minute if you apply on top of a dry polish).
- Give decent shine on to my nails.
- Can make a nail polish last up to 5-7 days which I think is pretty decent.
- Locally available.
- Very affordable.

What I don't like:
- The scent is a bit strong compared to other top coats.

- Although it makes nail polish last up to 5-7 days, the shine goes away after 3 days on me. Reapplication is suggested on the packaging but I don't do that since I normally change polish from time to time.
- I find the brush too thin.

Where to purchase?
Watsons, supermarkets and department stores nationwide.

Price:
Php 63 for 30 ml product. (This is also available in 15 ml bottle but I don't know the price.)

Ratings:
Packaging/Appearance: 4/5
Scent: 2.5/5
Texture: 4/5

Effectiveness/Performance: 4/5
Availability: 5/5
Affordability: 5/5
OVERALL: 4/5

If you are looking for a decent top coat that will match a tight budget, this one's for you. With this, waiting time is lessened.

Overall, I love this although there are some minor factors that contributed with the imperfect ratings. Nevertheless, this still delivers and it does not hurt my wallet.

I'll leave you some photos of my nails with Fast Dry Top Coat.

God bless! ^_^

  6. Do you layer nail polish more than 2 times? Ako kasi base coat then I let it dry. Tapos 2 coats of my regular colored nail polish with drying in between. Then, I top with this fast dry top coat. It works well naman. Na-experience ko kasi once na tacky na yung nail polish tapos madaming layers, it takes a long time to dry. Tapos madalas, may bubbles na.

I saw someone suggest wiping the brush clean and taking pliers to squeeze the base of the brush to make it flatter for better application. I haven't tried it yet with this brush but I think I will because I agree with you, It takes a lot of work to topcoat with this tiny brush. Do you experience bubbling? Mine seems to bubble a lot. I'm also sad that I lost half a bottle because even though it was tightly closed, the contents leaked out when it fell on its side.

  10. Will try to do that as well. I normally experience bubbling when I apply nail polish after taking a bath or simply wetting my hands. This, I think, is caused by the vaporization. Also, applying nail polish in front of the fan is a no no for me. It makes the polish more tacky and that's where bubbling will most likely to occur.
