REVIEW and DEMO | Manic Panic in Enchanted Forest

Good day, lovely readers. I am here to share with you what I have experienced when I colored my hair green last month. Yes, GREEN! I have been wanting to do that for years now and finally, I did it!

I bought this tub of Manic Panic in the shade Enchanted Forest from an Instagram seller named Shophipstreet. It cost me Php700 plus Php90 for the shipping. For my hair length of up to shoulders only, I was able to use half of the content. Not bad, I must say. See my demo below and first impression review below.

Information the you can find written on the packaging are the following: cautions, instructions and ingredients.

For every tub of Manic Panic, a hair color remover wipe for skin is given. I am not sure if this is applied to every order but this one is really helpful. How I wish they added more.

When using a dye like this, make sure you have a bowl and a brush. Any bowl that you don't mind getting stained is okay.

A newspaper on the floor is also a must. For your hands, use rubber gloves and for your clothes, a salon cape or any huge plastic is a must.

As I have mentioned, I used a pair of gloves. But the color still stained my hands. I guess the plastic gloves I used is semi-permeable or is punctured.

The next morning, I tried removing the stain but you can still see traces of the color especially on my nails. This is something I really dislike about Manic Panic.

This is what my hair looks prior to dyeing. I did not bleach my hair anymore because I did the strand test and realized that it can still color my hair even without bleaching. I don't want to further damage my hair so it is fine even if I don't get the vibrant green color.

Here is the finished product! It looks black when I am indoors but looks dark green when I am outside. I like it that way. It is not too loud or intimidating.

It was not able to cover white hairs though. It made it a bit metallic green in color.

After a week, my hair lightened a bit and became faded. I shampooed and conditioned my hair every other day for the first week. But decided to to it everyday after week one because I cannot stand having oily scalp.

After a week again (total of 2 weeks), the dye has faded and it looked as if I have ombre-ish type of hair. Sorry for making up that word. Hahaha!

Let's get down to the important bits and pieces.

What I like:

  • Affordable knowing that I can use it twice.

  • Vegan so it is safe for my sensitive skin.

  • Not tested on animals.

  • The consistency is just right; easy to apply and not very runny.

  • I don't have bleached hair but I had my hair colored to mocha and the Manic Panic was able to give me color that I wanted.

  • The color ENCHANTED FOREST looks really nice. I did not get that weird look from my boyfriend!

  • The wipe is really effective.

What I don't like:

  • It has that slight paint smell to it but is not noticeable once you apply it on your hair.

  • It stains badly; hands, nape, even clothes.

  • It lasted only 2 weeks on my entire hair. Now, I only have it on the ends.

  • I needed to blow-dry my hair every time I take a bath to avoid getting stained clothes.

  • Only available to some online sellers and few local stores.

I guess it is safe to say that it did not last really long on my hair because it does not contain chemicals that is used for that purpose. Please correct me if I am wrong. It fades every time I shampoo it so I guess that's also one reasons why it faded easily. Sorry but I just can't do the every other day wash. It gives me headache, literally. It is like, oil build up on my scalp is so heavy I just can't function well.

Overall, I think this product is the best option if you wish to have different hair color but is afraid to make it permanent (just like me). I like the fact that it can also give nice green shade to my chemically treated but NOT bleached hair. I will use the remaining after going for a lighter color which is honey blonde.

The only thing that really bothered me is the staining. I hope I can find the best product that can remove the stains easily so that I can appreciate my bold hair color even more.

Tip: Have someone apply it for you to for you to be sure you have even color and also to avoid getting too messy.
