REVIEW | Maybelline Baby Lips Electro Pop Colored Lip Balm

My lips aren't the most supple lips you can ever see. They are dry and uneven in color. Given that, I still usually go for matte lip colors but I think it is about time I give my lips some lovin'.

Today I will be sharing with you what I think about the Maybelline Baby Lips Electro Pop Colored Lip Balm and the shades I have are Pink Shock (Watermelon) and Berry Bomb (Berry). Pink Shock, the shade I like out of the two, is the shade my sister used for her budget-friendly makeup.

The packaging looks cute but pretty basic. I am not liking the fact that the upper part of the lip balm is prone to being damaged once you put back the cap. I prefer the ones that you can retract completely. Maybe they designed it like that so you can see the color. But hey, you see the color on the cap also so why do that? I really don't know.

It has shea butter which is known to be a very good moisturizer and vitamin E which helps protect our skin. I think this is good for hot and cold weather.

See the Clinical Strength Lip Balm part? To me, the stats below seem to be more realistic to me. Remember the ads on television about killing 99% of germs? bacteria? I don't know about you but seeing 88% and even 70% look more honest to me. I may not be right but that's what I feel.

I am seeing very faint color left especially with Pink Shock.

Pink Shock

Sad to say though, it does not leave any tint after letting it stay on the lips a little longer. But, I like how healthy my lips look. Berry Bomb has the tendency to emphasize lines on the lips because of its color but I like how it made me look a bit sweet. Pink Shock looks more natural on me because the color blends well with my natural lip color.

What I like:

  • Color and moisture in one.

  • Fruity scent that is not over the top.

  • Helps moisturize my dry lips.

  • Complete details provided.

  • Affordable.

  • Available locally.

What I don’t like:

  • Packaging. The tip might get damaged.

  • Color might not show up if you have dark lips.

  • Not long-wearing. Reapplication is a must not just for the color but for extra moisture too.

  • If you have extreme dry lips to the point that is it cracking, you'll need something more moisturizing than this.

  • If applied too much, I look like I have eaten an oily food.

  • Pigmentation: 3.5/5

  • Lasting power: 3.5/5

Overall Rating: 4/5

Overall, I think this is a good tinted lip balm. It gives a flush of color on days you want to look fresh but not too made up. It also moisturizes and helps minor dryness of the lips. If you have extreme dry lips, reapplication will definitely be a must or better yet, try something more intense than this. At the moment, this is my go to lip products when I go to the gym or when I don't want to torture my lips with matte lipsticks. I really like this and I think I might repurchase the shade Pink Shock.

  1. I have been a fan of Baby Lips for quite sometime. The current variant that i'm using was the Electro Pop in Pink Shock. I like the color that can make my lips look healthy but i wish that it was more moisturizing, long wearing and the bullet to fully retract. But just like you, i think i might repurchase Pink Shock.

  2. Same thoughts. But the color is just too pretty. :)
